Dr Hamid Razak is a prominent Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with more than 15 years of experience. He is concurrently an Adjunct Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School. Prior to private practice, Dr Hamid was the lead for the Sports & Joint Preserving Osteotomy Services at Sengkang General Hospital. He was also the site chief for the SingHealth Sports & Exercise Medicine Centre.
Throughout his career, Dr Hamid has shown a commitment to advancing Orthopaedic care. He completed research and clinical fellowships at Imperial College London and the London Knee Osteotomy Centre respectively, enhancing his expertise in joint preservation procedures. He was also awarded the College Travelling Fellowship by the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow. With this award, he completed a training stint at the world renowned Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, where he was trained in utilizing the Oxford Partial Knee implant, enhancing treatment options for patients. He was also awarded the prestigious International Cartilage Regeneration & Joint Preservation Society (ICRS) Clinical Travelling Fellowship in 2023 where he visited and learnt from the best surgeons in Europe performing state-of-the-art joint preserving procedures.
With over 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals and significant grant funding, Dr Hamid actively contributes to clinical research and innovation. Dr Hamid’s dedication to pushing the boundaries in joint preserving surgery underscores his mission to optimize patient outcomes and advance Orthopaedic care. Outside his clinical work, Dr Hamid is very active in the voluntary space and is currently the 2nd adviser to Jurong GRC Grassroots Organizations (Jurong Spring).
In 2019, Dr Hamid was awarded the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postgraduate scholarship as well as the National Medical Research Council Research Training Fellowship. He pursued a research attachment at the world renowned Imperial College London as well a clinical fellowship at the London Knee Osteotomy Centre. Over the course of a year, Dr Hamid equipped himself with cutting edge knowledge and technology in joint preservation – a field dedicated to ensuring patients enjoy longevity of their native joints through minimally invasive procedures. Upon his return to Singapore, he set up the Joint Preserving Osteotomy service from scratch and equipped the hospital with digital planning software as well as 3D-printing capabilities to augment clinical care.

While Dr Hamid is an all-rounded knee surgeon, he is passionate about advocating for knee preserving procedures for patients who are too young to undergo knee replacement. He is actively contributing to research and clinical excellence in this domain. He has published several peer-reviewed scientific articles and performed more than 300 knee preserving procedures since returning from his fellowship training. With like-minded colleagues, he has also co-founded the Singapore Knee Preservation Society (https://www.skps.org.sg) and is currently its Vice-President.
Dr Hamid is also very passionate about teaching the next generation of doctors and surgeons. He is a very active educator and has won several awards for this teaching excellence. He continues to mentor and nurture younger colleagues. On top of his clinical work, Dr Hamid is also an Adjunct Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School and continues to work with students and researchers.
Outside of his profession, Dr Hamid is high active in the community. He serves on several boards such as SINDA, National Youth Council as well as Singapore Prison Service. He is also a founding member and the current Deputy President of IMPROF – a ground-up organization in which Dr Hamid fronts a mentoring programme for underprivileged youth. Dr Hamid is also the 2nd Adviser to Jurong GRC Grassroots Organizations (Jurong Spring).
